A little bit about CAPTA
CAPTA was founded in 2022 by three classmates who, after graduating, chose to forgo the corporate path to create a business that makes a real impact. Driven by the need for assistive technologies in Mexico, CAPTA aims to improve the quality of life for individuals with disabilities by providing personalized, affordable solutions that foster independence. By collaborating with businesses, care centers, and strategic partners, we strive to build a more inclusive society where people with disabilities have access to the tools they need to reach their full potential and overcome daily challenges.

General design process
Patient Evaluation
We begin by assessing the patient's needs, mobility, and daily challenges. This step is crucial in understanding how assistive technology can improve their quality of life while ensuring the solution is both functional and comfortable. To ensure the best possible outcome, we collaborate with professionals in the field, including doctors, physical therapists, and rehabilitation specialists, who provide valuable insights into the patient's condition and specific requirements.
2. Product Advice
Based on the evaluation, we provide expert recommendations on the most suitable assistive device. Our team considers various factors, including the patient’s physical condition, lifestyle, and specific requirements, to ensure the best possible solution.
3. Consult with Family Members
Family members and caregivers play an essential role in the patient's journey. We engage in conversations with them to gather additional insights and ensure that our designs are practical and align with the patient’s daily routine.
4. 3D Scanning
To achieve a perfect fit, we use 3D scanning technology to capture precise measurements of the patient's body or the area where the assistive device will be used. This ensures accuracy and personalization in the final product.
5. 3D Modeling and Design Adaptation
With the patient’s input and data from the 3D scan, we adapt an existing design or create a new one from scratch. We focus on ergonomics, durability, and ease of use, making modifications as needed to enhance effectiveness.
6. 3D Printing and Testing
Using high-quality, cost-effective materials, we manufacture the device through 3D printing. This method allows us to create customized, lightweight, and affordable solutions with quick turnaround times.
7. Iterations and Final Details
After the first prototype is created, we conduct testing and gather feedback from the patient. If necessary, we refine the design through multiple iterations to ensure optimal functionality and user satisfaction.

Lessons learned
Throughout our journey with CAPTA, we've gained invaluable lessons that have shaped our approach to design and problem-solving. These insights not only fuel our creativity but also bring a profound sense of fulfillment, knowing our work directly impacts and improves the lives of those we serve.
-
Simple, creative designs often provide the most effective and accessible solutions for users.
-
Customizing products for individuals significantly enhances their independence and quality of life.
-
Working with experts such as doctors, therapists, and educators ensures that designs meet the unique needs of each user.
-
Limited budgets and access to materials require creativity, but finding innovative ways to work within constraints drives success.
Design + Branding
Not an expert but…
As a Co-founder (and all-hats-wearer), I’ve had to dive into the world of graphic design, teaching myself Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Canva to create visuals for CAPTA. Along the way, I also took on social media management, learning how to navigate platforms like Instagram and TikTok to engage our audience effectively. Below, you’ll find some of my graphic design work, along with links to our social media channels.
